About FLO Lofoten
Behind every man who set out to sea during the winter fisheries stood a woman – the fisher-farmer – holding life together back home.
From January to April, while the men braved the Lofoten seas, it was the women who cared for the farm, the livestock, the children – in a season ruled by darkness, storms, and scarcity.
She had to stretch the hay to last until spring, keep the animals alive, heat the house, and create safety and rhythm for the family – often with very little to work with.
She was not just a helper – she was the lifeline of the settlement, the keeper of continuity between past and future, nature and necessity.
At FLO Lofoten, this legacy lives on – in the care we take, the pace we keep, and the deep respect we hold for both nature and human endurance
The Tidehouse is a secluded retreat shaped by the rhythm of the sea and the soul of the north. There are no words to describe how special this place is. The views are beyond stunning and I think our stay here has my life has been changed forever. Runa is hands down, the best host, on the planet. She made sure to have a tree set up and decorated for us since we were staying there over Christmas. She even had her kids drop by with some homemade holiday cookies and dessert. She was proactive and super communicative, from everything about the house, to Aurora forecast, to the weather forecast. We experienced all types of weather during our stay, from a peaceful beautiful eternal dusk, the most beautiful colors from the sun remaining right below the horizon, to wind storms that delayed our long drive up to Evenes to catch our flight back to the states. Runa was more than gracious, allowing us to hunker down and shelter in place way past checkout time, ensuring us that there was no rush and to leave whenever we needed and felt safe to do so. A piece of my heart will always be there!

We had an amazing week at this cabin 🤩Its perfect located for sightseeing around Lofoten as its 1 hour drive from Svolvær and Reine. Everything was as described and even better than on the pictures. Runa answered always very fast when we wondered about something ❤️ and hot tub is amazing for northern lights show that we could see above the cabin every evening ❤️ its very dark around the cabin so it was perfect spot. We totally recommend it!

We stayed from the 17th to the 24th Jan in this splendid house in the Lofoten, facing a breathtaking panorama of sea and mountains. The landscapes were stunning! Our hosts Runa and Johan was very attentive and kind, providing us with all the information we needed. The house was welcoming, clean, and we will definitely return to visit again. The atmosphere was truly enchanting! We were also lucky enough to witness a Northern Lights display unlike any seen in many years. The sky wasn’t just green but also lit with red hues, making the entire horizon a spectacular show that will stay in our memories forever.
